Meet Our Founder
Hazem Shoukry is an architect, artist and industry leader in the field since 1987. Being an Egyptian architect widened the scope at which Shoukry views the world. He was brought up in a family of engineers with a functional lifestyle and appreciation for art. Being constantly surrounded by Egyptian architecture whether from the pharaonic times or the Islamic architecture flooding older Cairo, there was always extra exposure which as an architect was quite intriguing. Having also grown up in Algeria until teenage years, surrounded by nature, Shoukry has always had an eye for creation and innovation.

Over the past 30 years, Shoukry has worked with manufacturing materials including glass and stone, reaching the highest level of expertise utilising these materials. Always keen on discovering new possibilities with unexpected media, this drove him to wander outside the box leading to the discovery of the wonders of what working with hair on hide can create.
He then turned his passion and unique mastery into his own brand where he redefined the “hair on hide” leather line into a state-of-the-art brand through studying of how hide can be used for interior applications either as floor or wall covering. Working with leather has endless aesthetic possibilities, which Shoukry works on advancing each and every day. Hazem Shoukry Designs’ vision is a lifestyle destination for those who desire prime quality, design and service – enhancing lives and creating a sanctuary within homes.
